About

I am a digital health scientist and UX researcher working at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience, human–computer interaction, and scalable healthcare innovation. My work focuses on developing and validating digital tools that enable earlier detection of cognitive decline and more personalised risk assessment across clinical and population settings.

I completed my PhD in Health Risk and Prevention at ETH Zurich and the Singapore–ETH Centre within the Future Health Technologies programme. My doctoral research centred on the conception, design, and multimodal validation of the Spatial Performance Assessment for Cognitive Evaluation (SPACE), a tablet-based spatial navigation assessment designed to detect early cognitive impairment. The project integrated behavioural performance, usability science, neuroimaging, fluid biomarkers, clinical cohorts, and wearable sensor data across large and diverse populations.

What drives my work is a translational mindset: I am not only interested in whether a tool works in controlled research settings, but whether it can be deployed, adopted, and sustained in real clinical and public health environments. This requires combining rigorous methodology with thoughtful interaction design, robust statistical modelling, and close collaboration with clinicians, engineers, and policy stakeholders.

Over the past years, I have worked within multidisciplinary teams spanning neuroscience, computer science, engineering, medicine, and public health. I have contributed to large-scale research programmes and international collaborations, engaging with hospitals, academic institutions, and governmental partners. My experience ranges from early-stage concept development and UX prototyping to large-cohort validation studies and grant-funded innovation initiatives.

Today I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Singapore–ETH Centre (Future Health Technologies 2), where I lead the MIND project in Singapore, an AI-enabled platform for monitoring cognitive health in daily life, and its multi-institution research team. My expertise spans digital biomarkers, human-centred design, LLM-supported digital health tools and multimodal clinical validation.

SPACE

SPACESpatial Performance Assessment for Cognitive Evaluation2020 – 2025 · ETH Zurich · Singapore–ETH Centre

An iPad-based serious game that detects early cognitive impairment through spatial navigation, led from concept to clinical validation. Tasks cover path integration, egocentric pointing, mapping, associative memory and perspective taking.

  • Game design with an external developer: mock-ups, prototypes and iterative testing; usability from focus groups with older adults to community testing with 400+ participants.
  • Multi-site testing of healthy and clinical cohorts (N > 3,500) with NUS, Duke-NUS, National University Hospital and the Singapore National Eye Centre; over 1,000 people assessed alongside behavioural measures, structural MRI and blood and saliva biomarkers.
  • SPACE discriminates between levels of cognitive impairment, predicts hippocampal atrophy beyond standard neuropsychological tests and captures variation in Alzheimer's-related pathology. Mini-SPACE, under 11 minutes, keeps strong diagnostic accuracy.
  • Finalist, ACM CHI 2023 Student Game Competition.
  • N > 3,500 participants
  • AUC 0.94 no impairment vs. mild dementia
  • < 11 min Mini-SPACE

thēma

thēmaCo-founder & Product Lead2026 – now · thēma, Brescia, Italy

An AI-enabled platform for psychologists and psychotherapists: agenda, clinical records, session notes and invoicing in one place. The AI prepares session summaries and, through Incarica thēma, carries out requests written in plain words, always as a preview the therapist confirms, so the clinician stays at the centre and in control of everything. Privacy by design, GDPR-compliant, data hosted in the EU.

  • Designed and built the platform, from the first prototype to the live product: agenda, clinical records, session notes, invoicing and the AI layer, with session summaries and Incarica thēma.
  • Lead UX and design research with mental health professionals.
  • Set the product vision, roadmap and feature priorities.
  • Develop privacy and AI-governance practices for sensitive health data.
  • 4 in 1 agenda, records, notes and invoices
  • AI notes, summaries and agents (Incarica thēma)
  • EU encrypted clinical data, GDPR by design
